Exploring Our Mangawhai Community

At BeforeSix, we believe some of the best learning happens beyond our gates! Over the past few months, our tamariki have been out and about exploring our beautiful Mangawhai community, creating meaningful connections and making wonderful memories along the way.

Our youngest explorers (0–2 years) have been enjoying peaceful coastal walks, taking in the fresh sea air and the stunning views across the Mangawhai Estuary. There’s nothing quite like sharing a healthy snack together while watching the boats, birds and changing tides. They’ve also loved their regular trips to Bennett’s Café, where a fluffy and freshly baked scone make for a very special morning out!

Our older tamariki (2–5 years) have also been busy embracing a range of exciting adventures. From coastal walks and visits to the local library for Storytime, to exploring the playground at Mangawhai Beach School, every excursion offers new opportunities to build confidence, friendships and a love of learning.

One of our recent highlights was spending time with Sustainable Kaipara, where our tamariki discovered the fascinating world of composting and worm farming. They had the chance to look closely at worms and other tiny creatures under microscopes, sparking plenty of curiosity, wonder and conversations about caring for our environment.

These excursions are so much more than just outings, they help our tamariki develop confidence, independence, social skills and a strong sense of belonging within our community. We feel incredibly fortunate to have such amazing places and people right here in Mangawhai to learn alongside.

We hope you enjoy looking through these special moments. This is just a glimpse into the adventures we’ve shared together over the past few months, and the best part is, there are many more exciting excursions still to come!
