Traditionally Māori used the Matariki stars to determine when to harvest winter crops and to plan for and prepare the ground for the spring garden, however in recent years planting has been seen as a great way to honour new life as we move forward into the new year.
Today at BeforeSix our tamariki got into the garden and planted a range of vegetable seedlings. We are looking forward to reaping the rewards of our mahi once we reach harvest time 😁🌱
